Welcome to Health Psychology Associates, a therapy practice conveniently located in Boston’s Back Bay. Our mission is to help people lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, cultivate strengths within themselves, and enhance their experiences of love, work, and play.  Our therapists provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical services and care in a collaborative, supportive environment. 


We see adults for anxiety, stress, depression, medical illness, coping, exhaustion, and burnout. We specialize in high-achieving college and graduate students and working professionals in high-pressure careers, including healthcare, law, academia, government, finance, and technology. Combining the latest neuroscience research with traditional techniques gives our clients the best care in the Back Bay.

Meet Our Therapists

Laura Greve, Psy.D., Founder (she/her)

Dr. Laura is a clinical health psychologist specializing in treating adults, adolescents, and children coping with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress, medical issues, mood disorders, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She integrates various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapies, relaxation training, biofeedback, clinical hypnotherapy, and supportive therapy to create a treatment approach tailored to each individual.

She completed an internship and fellowship in behavioral medicine at Children's Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School with extensive training in CBT, relaxation therapies, and biofeedback. She combines these skills to treat anxiety, pain, and stress-related conditions effectively. She works with individuals in a compassionate, warm, and inviting manner.

Katelyn Desrosiers, Psy.D. (she/her)

Dr. Desrosiers is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in treating adults and college-aged students coping with depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, and stressful life transitions. She uses various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, prolonged exposure (PE), and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for trauma, as well as supportive therapy to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual or couple. Her clinical interests include navigating relationship stressors, and she is passionate about working with couples to achieve peace in their relationships. She also has a unique interest and specialty in working with professionals and those in fast-paced, pressured leadership roles to navigate and overcome internal distress and burnout.

She completed her training at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and has worked in various settings, including the Harvard University Counseling Center. She has served four years on active duty as a Navy psychologist and received extensive training in CBT, ACT, evidenced-based trauma therapies, and performance-based psychology. She combines these skills to effectively treat depression, anxiety, and stress-related conditions and help clients live according to what matters most. Her approach to therapy is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and solution-focused. She strives to cultivate an environment where all clients feel accepted and understood.

Aprill Moxley, LMHC, Clinical Director (she/her)

Aprill is a licensed mental health counselor specializing in treating college-aged students and adults coping with anxiety, depression, stress, mood disorders, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She uses various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and art therapy to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual. As our Clinical Director, Aprill closely supervises and provides clinical case consultation to therapists within the practice to ensure high-quality care.

She completed her training at Southwestern College in New Mexico. She has worked in various settings, including MGH Aspire’s summer camp for children and Advocates Inc., providing in-home and outpatient family and child therapy. She has extensive training in play therapy, mindfulness therapy, and motivational interviewing. She works with young and middle-aged adults in a caring, warm, and inviting manner.

Monica Perez, LMHC (she/her)

Monica is a licensed mental health counselor specializing in treating college-aged students and young professionals coping with stress, anxiety, depression, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She has a specialty in treating mild to moderate eating disorders. Her clinical interests include working with underserved communities (BIPOC) and intersectionality from a relational cultural theory. She utilizes various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), unified transdiagnostic approach, EMDR, and supportive therapy to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual. Monica is fluent in both Spanish and English.

She completed her training at Boston University School of Medicine and the Renfrew Center. She has extensive training in EMDR, CBT, ACT, and the unified transdiagnostic approach. She combines these skills to effectively treat anxiety, depression, stress, body image, and eating disorders. She works with individuals in a warm, collaborative, and personable manner.

Julia Averna, LICSW (she/her)

Julia is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in treating college-aged students and adults coping with anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, relationship issues, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She utilizes various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), attachment theory, and supportive therapy to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual.

She completed her education at Boston College with extensive training in CBT and motivational interviewing. She has worked in various settings, most recently with Tufts University college students at The Haven Program. She combines her skills to treat anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions effectively. She works with individuals in a supportive and compassionate manner.

Rachel Johnson, LICSW (she/her)

Rachel is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in treating college-aged students, working professionals, and adults coping with depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She has a unique interest and specialty in couples therapy utilizing the Gottman model of intervention. She utilizes various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and supportive therapy to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual or couple.

She completed her education at the Simmons School of Social Work and worked in multiple settings, most recently at Tufts Medical Center, with extensive CBT and motivational interviewing training. She combines these skills to treat anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions effectively. She works with individuals and couples in a warm, caring, and collaborative manner.

Elizabeth Hendriks, Ph.D. (she/her)

Dr. Elizabeth Hendriks is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in supporting high-achieving college and graduate students and working professionals in demanding careers. She empowers clients to address challenges, such as stress, burnout, and work-life balance, and achieve a greater sense of well-being and fulfillment in their personal and professional lives.

Dr. Hendriks's clinical approach is deeply humanistic and rooted in the science of adult development, psychobiology, and evidence-based treatments, including Behavioral Activation (BA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Working in active partnership with clients, she creates a custom-tailored plan to improve mental health and enhance skills and performance across personal, academic, or professional domains. In addition, she is interested in integrating psychological science and personal and executive coaching to assist organizations and businesses, including rapidly growing start-ups, in promoting leadership development and competency, while fostering high-performing individual contributors, teams, and organizations.

Dr. Hendriks earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Notre Dame, where her research examined the psychobiology of adversity and stress across the lifespan. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in health psychology at Yale School of Medicine and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, where she provided behavioral health services for patients and professional coaching for medical residents and physicians. Dr. Hendriks is committed to helping clients open new avenues to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Stacey Sarakiniotis, LMHC (she/her)

Stacey is a licensed mental health counselor specializing in treating college-aged students, graduate students, young professionals, and adults with anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, relationship issues, challenging family dynamics, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She utilizes techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), relaxation strategies, motivational interviewing, and supportive therapy to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual or couple.

Stacey earned a dual-license master's degree at Bridgewater State University and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Boston University. She has worked in various settings, including community agencies where she was an in-home therapist, public schools as an adjustment counselor, and private practice providing individual, couples, and family therapy. She brings a relational style to her work with clients where they can process biological and social situations that affect their feelings and behaviors. Stacey believes it is essential for everyone to feel a sense of hope for the future and supports her clients in working through their circumstances so they can make positive, productive changes. She works with individuals in a supportive, caring, and collaborative manner.

Kelly Swartz, LICSW (she/her)

Kelly is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in treating college-aged students and adults coping with anxiety, stress, grief, depression, relationship difficulties, identity issues, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She has a special interest in women’s issues, including self-esteem, body image, and relationships. She utilizes various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and supportive therapy to create a personalized and strengths-based treatment plan.

She is a graduate of Boston University School of Social Work. She has worked at the Howard Center in Burlington, Vermont, and the Edinburg Center in Bedford, Massachusetts, with extensive CBT and supportive therapy training. She works with individuals in a collaborative, warm, and mild-mannered demeanor.

Roni Levy, LMHC, Clinical Supervisor (she/her)

Roni is a licensed clinical mental health counselor, who received her bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology and master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University. She has extensive experience working with a variety of major mental illnesses in all levels of care and specializes in mild to moderate eating disorders, gender/sexual identity exploration, and relationships, with adults within all genders, and backgrounds.  Roni's approach is rooted in relational-cultural theory, mixed with exposure therapy, CBT, and ACT. Roni is fluent in both Hebrew and English. She supervises and provides clinical case consultation to therapists within the practice to ensure high-quality care.

Roni is passionate about supporting individuals within marginalized communities, with the goal of being seen, heard, and empowered. Roni believes that healing, recovery, and growth begin when you step outside of your comfort zone!


Megan Scranton, LMHC, NCC (she/her)

Megan is a licensed mental health counselor and a nationally certified counselor specializing in treating college-aged students, graduate students, young professionals, and middle-aged adults coping with anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, relationship issues, and difficulties adjusting to life changes. She utilizes various techniques and perspectives from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, acceptance, and commitment therapy (ACT), attachment theory, and supportive therapy to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual.

She completed her education at Boston University School of Medicine with extensive training in CBT and motivational interviewing. She has worked in various settings, most recently with Wellness Within and Aspire Health Alliance. She combines her skills to treat anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions effectively. She works with individuals in an unassuming, warm, and compassionate manner.

Victoria Babcock, LMHC, R-DMT (she/her)

Victoria is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma and PTSD, family and couple conflicts, OCD, anxiety, depression, and adjusting to everyday life experiences. Her approach includes CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, and attachment theory. In addition, she holds a certification in dance and movement therapy (R-DMT). 

She obtained her master's degree from William James College and her undergraduate psychology degree from Syracuse University. Victoria has worked in many settings, including college campuses, outpatient treatment centers, and telehealth. Her goal in therapy is not to fix client's problems but to help them feel empowered to solve them independently. Victoria supports her clients in feeling empowered, skilled, and aware of themselves and others. Growth can be painful but highly worth it. Let's grow together and start healing through insight, humor, empathy, compassion, and, most importantly, a nonjudgmental, safe space to be your authentic self.

Shannon Wooten, M.A. (she/her)

Shannon is a supervised psychotherapist (expected completion of licensure process in early 2024) specializing in treating college-aged students and adults navigating stress, anxiety, depression, relational issues, and life adjustments. She specializes in couples work and strives to provide an inclusive space for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Shannon utilizes an integrative approach, pulling from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic frameworks. She recognizes that every person's journey is unique and tailors her clinical approach to the individual needs of her clients.

Shannon completed her training at William James College, formerly the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, and has previously worked with Riverside Community Care and Advocates Inc. She is trauma-informed, warm, collaborative, and client-centered. 

Jessiqua Claffey, LMHC (she/her)

Jess is a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in treating college-aged and adult populations as they work to navigate various mental health and other life challenges. Her areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationships, stress, sex and sexuality, and LGBTQIA+ issues. Jess uses an integrated approach to therapy, which includes aspects of CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, strength-based counseling, and positive psychology.

Jess completed her training at the University of Massachusetts Boston and has worked in various settings, including youth and family services, community outreach, inpatient care, outpatient dual diagnosis, and web-based therapy services. Her humanistic approach to therapy allows her to tailor her services to each client's individual needs and provide care that is both inclusive and empowering.

Lindsey Angione, LMHC, RYT-200 (she/her)

Lindsey is a licensed mental health counselor, a 200-hour registered yoga teacher, a competitive athlete, and a former corporate marketing manager. She is passionate about the power therapy has to change lives and enjoys helping clients progress toward goals using a person-centered, honest, humorous, and empathetic style.  Lindsey has studied positive psychology, mindfulness, and vinyasa yoga and has participated in the U.S. Army Resilience training program developed by Martin Seligman, Ph.D., for deploying troops to delve deeper into happiness. She understands the keys to happiness through her study and hands-on experience and feels passionate about sharing these learnings with as many people as possible. 

Lindsey earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling with a specialization in health and behavioral medicine from William James College and an undergraduate degree in psychology from the College of the Holy Cross. Most recently, she has worked in various settings, including Stonehill College Counseling Center, inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment, and community mental health. Lindsey specializes in working with high-achieving individuals (athletes, individuals in high-stress fields, and students) and has expertise in working with a variety of anxiety disorders, self-esteem, and communication challenges. Lindsey is LGBTQIA+ aligned, gender-affirming, and supportive of those exploring gender and sexual identity. Lindsey’s favorite part of therapy is helping clients peel back layers to expose truth, reframe old patterns, and create self-directed change that is empowering and inspiring.

Chrissy Echelle, Practice Manager (she/her)

Chrissy provides front-office operational and financial account-related support to the practice, the clinicians, and the clients. She has a broad range of professional experience, including Account Management from University Health Plans for over ten years and recently as an Account Manager for Vendetti Wellness Group. Chrissy believes good communication is vital! She effectively navigates interactions with clients using empathy and understanding while simultaneously educating the client on the governing policy and procedure. Her approach leads to positive customer service outcomes and increased customer service satisfaction for the practice.

Melissa “Mel” Shapiro, LICSW (she/her)

Mel is a seasoned, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker specializing in men seeking therapy to improve their mood, work, performance, and relationships. She takes a strengths-based approach with clients looking to manage their depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and adjustment-related issues better. Her approach includes CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy, and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy). Mel has served in several leadership roles, including Clinical Director at the Counseling and Psychotherapy Center, Mental Health Director at Bristol County Corrections, and Unit Director at Bridgewater State Hospital.

She earned her master’s from the Simmons School of Social Work and a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences with Honors from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. Mel has early morning, evening, and Sunday appointments available.
